Cajeput essential oil is steam distilled from the aromatic leaves and twigs of the Melaleuca cajuputi, a tree native to Australia. Also known as 'White Tea Tree', 'White Wood' and 'Weeping Paperbark Tree', Melaleuca cajuputi shares a wide variety of properties with Eucalyptus and Tea Tree (both of the genus Melaleuca) in natural composition and aroma. Aromatically, Cajuput Essential Oil possesses a fresh, fruity, sweet, herbaceous, camphor-like aroma. It blends well with many other essential oils, including those from the citrus, floral, mint, and wood families.
The name Cajeput is derived from the Indonesian name, kayu putih or White Wood. The trees have a gray-white papery bark and beautiful white, pink and purple flowers.
