Marjoram (Origanum majorana) is a plant in the lipflower family. The species is also known as marjoram or sausage herb. Marjoram is native to the eastern Mediterranean. The plant has been known in Europe since ancient times. Sweet Marjoram has an intense aroma, reminiscent of oregano, but softer in flavour and sweeter. Among the ancient Greeks, Sweet Marjoram was used together with parsley as a remedy for hangovers. People used to braid a wreath with it and put it on their heads during the festive meal.
For all indications, related to the need for calmness, stress and anxiety relief, it can have amazing effects. It also has great antispasmodic properties due to its relaxing effect on smooth muscles.

Sweet Marjoram is used as a traditional herbal medicine to relieve mild gastrointestinal complaints such as flatulence and to treat irritated skin around the nose. The herb is also commonly used for headaches, dizziness, convulsive coughs, and colds.

Unlike distillates, the labile sabine hydrates and sabine hydrate acetate are obtained in full quantity thanks to the gentle conditions of CO2 extraction.
